Amy blew out her breath with annoyance as traffic once again came to a standstill. She loved her job but hated driving home in peak hour traffic. It frustrated her no end that it took forty minutes to cover the same ground it would take twenty minutes to cover at any other time. Watching the stream of tail lights laid out in front of her in the dim twilight, she knew she wouldn’t be going anywhere for a while and turned her head to look out the side window.
Lost in her thoughts, Amy was jolted back to the present on hearing the ominous sound of tyres screeching, followed by a loud metal on metal crunch as a horn started blaring. Her head spinning around she searched the other side of the road for the source of the noise, hoping the accident wasn’t too bad and that nobody was hurt. But she couldn’t see anything. Then as her gaze flicked up to the rear view mirror her eyes widened in horror as she watched the cars behind her crumple and twist in turn as each one was rammed into the next.
Impactive. I wonder how you came up with that.... hope not while you were driving! ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks. No it is not something I have personally experienced although I have been in a car accident and can still remember the fear when you realise impact is imminent.
