Going Home

Part 15

Josh and Grace walked into the hotel foyer where they were to meet Josh’s mother. Neither of them had said much since leaving home. Josh seemed lost in his thoughts and Grace was loath to disturb him. But as they got close to what would be a difficult meeting Grace squeezed Josh’s hand to give him a tangible reminder of her support. Josh looked down at her. Then leaning down he gave her a quick kiss and as he lifted his head he winked at her and she smiled realising he was ready now for anything.

Turning his attention back to the people in the foyer Josh looked for his mother. He wasn’t sure he would know her straight away as it had been over fourteen years. But as soon as the woman stood and moved towards them Josh recognised her. She looked older but still very familiar. Glancing quickly at Grace, Josh moved towards her.
