Part 25

“It is” Taki said “this, you, being here, not moving around anymore is what is right for me. You said I need to forgive myself and this is the next step in that process. I’m ready to start living a normal life again. I love you too, with everything in me but if things don’t work out with us, I’ll still be ready for that. You helped me get to that point but it’s not the only reason I’m there. Some of it is time. But also I’ve changed, and yes in the main because of your help but without you those changes will still be there even if you aren’t, okay?”

Idyn searched her eyes for a moment. “Okay” he said.

“So will I tell them I’ll take the job?”

“Do you like the job?”

She laughed, “are you trying to get me to leave or what?  Yes I like the job. I wouldn’t be considering it otherwise. It’s a great opportunity.”

Idyn smiled and pulled her to him. He realised then that she was indeed doing what was right for her and he relaxed. “I’m not trying to get rid of you” he said “in fact the reverse is true but I wanted you to be sure.”

“I am sure” she said. “I want to make a life here, with you.”

“You mean live here with me” he said with a smile. He wanted to go to sleep each night with her in his arms and wake up each morning, with her face as the first thing he saw. Her living in the same city but not with him wasn’t going to be enough.

Taki’s grin told him that she didn’t miss the distinction “I’d love that” she said. “But I have some bad news. Before that can happen, I’m afraid I still need to complete my next job.”

“Out west, for two months? He said feeling depressed at that prospect. He didn’t want to let her out of his sight for an hour let alone a couple of months.

“Yes” she said “But I could come back for the odd weekend.”

“Forget that. I think I’ll be taking some leave” he said “and heading west.”

She laughed. “I’d love that but what about your business?”

“I can run it remotely. I have good people working for me.”

She grinned.

“And when you come home my employees will be at your disposal anytime you need a driver.”

“There is only one driver I want” she said giving him a heated look.

“He’s at your disposal too” he teased.

She smiled. “I love you” she said looking into his eyes.

 “Same here” he said and pulling her into his arms and kissing her he knew that he would happily drive her where ever she wanted to go for the rest of her life.
