Learning To Trust Again

Rolling onto his side a while later Jake kissed Rebecca’s head and held her against him. Smiling against his chest she sighed with contentment.

‘I hope that was a good sigh’ he said.

Looking up at him, still smiling she replied ‘oh Jake, that was most definitely a good sigh.’

‘Good’ he said and serious suddenly he added ‘now I’ve got another question for you.’

Looking at him, her expression curious, she replied ‘okay.’

‘I know we haven’t known each other very long, but after the last few weeks without you I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that this is what I want, you are what I want, forever. Do you understand what I’m asking?’

Not wanting to get this wrong because it was too important. After all the misunderstandings, needing for them both to be completely clear about everything she said with equal seriousness, ‘I think you’d better spell it out.’

Jake looked into her eyes, ‘I want us to get married. It doesn’t have to be straight away if you need some time to be sure it’s what you want. But I want you to know it’s what I want, and I’m willing to wait for as long as it takes.’

A brilliant smile lighting up her face, Rebecca kissed him hard before replying ‘I don’t need time, I know this is what I want too. I love you.’

Smiling too now Jake pulled her into his arms ‘I love you’ he sighed and bringing his mouth down on hers set about showing her exactly how much.
