The Locked Door

Part 15

It was late morning when Jaya decided it was time to rouse herself. She and Walker had not slept much but she did not care and she did not feel any the worse for the lack of sleep. Her muscles ached pleasantly from the unaccustomed activity and with each twinge she remembered with delight how it had been caused. Leaving Walker asleep she jumped in the shower. However before she could get out she found that she had company as Walker stepped in behind her.
“Morning” he said.
“Morning” she said and turned to face him.
He grinned and bent to kiss her which ensured that the hot water had run out long before they emerged but neither of them had even noticed.

When she was dressed she made Walker breakfast with the last of her supplies. While he finished eating, having finished her own, Jaya walked into the secret room and looked at it all again in the daylight. The sadness hit her like a tidal wave the minute she entered the room. It was like it had seeped into the very walls and remained there all those years. Jaya knew she needed to ring her mother but before she could move out of the room Walker’s arms snaked around her waist from behind. “Are you leaving today?”
“I was going to but I don’t have to” she said. She had another week before she was due back at work. She had intended to spend some time relaxing at home after she had completed the clear out but now time at home alone came a distant second to spending more time with him.
“I don’t want you to go” he whispered as his arms tightened. “Is that crazy?”
Jaya smiled and said “I have a week before I have to go back to work.”
Walker spun her around “really?”
“Yes” she said “and I don’t think it’s crazy.” She did not want to go either.
“Stay” he said kissing her.
“Okay” she said when she could drag her mouth away from his.
Walker grinned and picking her up carried her back to bed.
