Going Home

Part 122

The next morning Josh arrived at the hospital to pick up Grace. As Grace had predicted he turned heads as he strode in looking formidable with his gun strapped to his thigh. Not that he noticed. Josh only had one thing on his mind, Grace.

Getting her discharge instructions Josh carried Grace’s bag as the nurse wheeled her down stairs to the foyer. Bringing the TR vehicle did have certain advantages Grace decided when she noticed it was parked right next to the door. It meant she only had to walk a couple of steps and still feeling a little unsteady Grace was grateful for that.

As they reached the vehicle Dom got out of the driver’s seat and came around to hold open the back door so Josh could help Grace in and put her seat belt on. Then taking her pain medication and paperwork off the nurse Josh got into the passenger seat as Dom started the engine.

Ten minutes later, arriving at the apartment Josh opened the back door and said “you going to walk or do you want to be carried?”
Smiling Grace said “well as your offering, some assistance would be most welcome. I really don’t think I can manage the stairs today.”
Josh frowned “sure you’re okay?”
“I’m fine Josh but after lying around for the last two days, I just don’t feel up to climbing those stairs by myself.”
Nodding but looking serious he picked her up, careful not to touch her left arm.
Wanting to give him something else to think about, once she was in his arms with her good arm wrapped around his neck Grace leaned in and whispered “besides you know how much I love it when you carry me.”
Her words caused a shiver to pass across his skin as her meaning sank in. Josh grinned and walked inside. He’d missed her in their bed the last two nights.
